Permata Hijau Group expresses its concern and dismay over the allegation of sexual assault and abuse reported in the AP article dated 21 November 2020. Permata Hijau prohibits any kind of harassment, discrimination or abuse (including sexual harassment, discrimination or abuse). This prohibition applies to all of our operations and our suppliers and is enshrined in our Sustainability Policy and Supplier Code as well as other relevant policies. Offenders will be penalized in accordance with company regulation while criminal cases will be reported to the relevant authorities to be prosecuted in accordance with the Law.

To ensure the implementation of this prohibition, we provide regular refreshment training to our workers on our sustainability policy and other relevant company policies, such as code of conduct, human rights policy, whistleblowing policy, company regul ations etc. We also provide regular socialization and training to our suppliers through our supplier workshops.

We set up Gender Committees at our business units to address women and children right and equality concerns. The gender committees conduct regular discussion with our female workers to educate them on their rights and to canvass inputs on cases of discrimination, harassment, abuse and/or assault that may have occurred in the workplace.

In addition to direct canvassing by the gender committees, we have also established an internal and external complaint system and we encourage our stakeholders (victims, witnesses and/or representatives) to report any harassments, discriminations or abuses that happened in our workplace to us. Complainants’ identity will be kept strictly confidential.
