Permata Hijau Group (PHG) conducted an on-site supplier workshop on 06th and 07th of September 2022. The workshop which was supported by Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC) and Daemeter Consulting (DC) received overwhelmingly positive response from PHG’s suppliers and attracted 82 attendees from 60 different supplier companies.

The workshop was opened by Toto Chandra, PHG’s Director of Sustainability. This was followed by two presentations by PHG and LDC on the respective companies’ profile and commitment on sustainability and no deforestation, no peat and no exploitation (NDPE).

The next session was a technical session where two sustainability experts from DC shared their knowledge on NDPE policy and traceability to plantation (TTP) using risk calibrated approach. They also discussed the many TTP tools that suppliers can utilize including DC’s TTP online portal. Of particular note is the role playing and simulation session where our suppliers role-play as palm oil mills and their suppliers (such as plantation companies, smallholders, agents, ramps). The goal of this simulation is to give suppliers understanding on the complexities in collecting TTP data.

On the second day, PHG’s team presented on PHG’s supplier questionnaire, GHG emission calculation, and deforestation and fire monitoring through Global Forest Watch Pro. The successful two days event was closed with a lively question and answer sessions.
