As part of Permata Group’s commitment to building a sustainable and responsible palm oil supply chain, the Supplier Workshop was successfully held on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at Aryaduta Convention Hall, Medan. This activity was the result of a collaboration with Olam Agri, a business partner that shares a similar vision for sustainability.

The workshop was attended by 117 participants from 65 supplier companies within Permata Group’s supply chain. Participants received direct training from Proforest’s expert trainers, who delivered materials on key sustainability issues, as well as understanding and implementing NDPE-IRF 6.0 as a framework for responsible supply chain management.

The event was masterfully conducted by Ms. Amalia Anindia from Proforest as the master of ceremony. It opened with welcoming remarks from Mr. Toto Chandra (Director of Sustainability, Permata Group) and Ms. Regina Destia Leki (Manager of Sustainability, Olam Agri). This was followed by a presentation on company commitments and sustainability strategies by Mr. Henry Cai (Head of Sustainability, Permata Group) and Ms. Regina representing Olam Agri.

The first session focused on the topic ‘Introduction to IRF Version 6.0 and Its Link to DCF’ presented by Ms. Metia Lembasi from Proforest. This session covered the update from IRF version 5.8 to 6.0, the relationship of the Deforestation and Conversion-Free (DCF) principle with IRF 6.0, as well as requirements for Traceability to Plantation (TTP) and Traceability to Production Area (TTPA).

The second session continued with the topic ‘Traceability to Plantation’ delivered by Mr. Tangkas Romario, Traceability Supervisor of Permata Group, He shared the practice of collecting supplier plantation polygons using the MAPinr application— an accessible and free mobile mapping tool. This was followed by a presentation from Ms. Debora Mayke, Sustainability Analyst at Olam Agri, on “Deforestation Monitoring and Verification”. She introduced the use of free and publicly accessible platforms such as Nusantara Atlas and Global Forest Watch, and explained the step-by-step process for deforestation monitoring, verification and reporting using these tools.

The final session addressed the topic ‘NDPE IRF 6.0 Form Filling Guidelines’ led by Ms. Intan Ningsih from Proforest. Participants engaged in a case study exercise for completing the NDPE IRF 6.0 form with facilitator guidance, along with a practical session on calculating volumes from independent smallholders.

This activity aimed to broaden participants’ knowledge and strengthen supplier capacity, while also fostering partnerships in creating a more transparent and sustainable palm oil industry.
